Join us as teams of students from across South Dakota put their culinary and hospitality management skills to the test at the Annual South Dakota ProStart Invitational at the Ramkota Hotel and Convention Center in Pierre, SD on Thursday, March 24. Open to the public.
The ProStart Invitational is an intense, fast-paced event where students demonstrate food preparation and safety skills, hospitality management, public speaking, and other valuable job skills.

What is ProStart®?ProStart® is a nationwide, two-year program for high school students that develops the best and brightest talent into tomorrow’s restaurant and hospitality industry leaders. From culinary techniques to management skills, ProStart’s® industry-driven curriculum provides real-world education and builds practical expertise for a foundation that will last a lifetime.

Students not only learn from educators in the classroom, they also gain valuable hands-on experience by working at least 400 hours in the industry. ProStart® creates an unparalleled experience.

In South Dakota, the program is coordinated by the South Dakota Retailers Association (SDRA), in cooperation with the South Dakota Department of Education and the South Dakota ProStart® Committee. South Dakota's ProStart® has been in place since 2007, when SDRA agreed to establish and coordinate the program.
